Previous Competitions

1) England vs Russia – what will the final score be? No winners

All the entries we received on social media went for an England victory, except one that went for a 1-0 Russia triumph. There were a couple of 1-0 England answers, and with just 2 minutes of added time to play, this score looked good. However, after a very positive England performance, the 3 points were heartbreakingly snatched from us after a looping header from Vasili Berezutski bamboozled Joe Hart in the dying moments of the game. The starting line-up was dominated by players from Tottenham Hotspur, with Rose, Walker, Dier, Alli and Kane all getting the nod. The team seemed to gel well.

2) England vs Wales – what will the final score be? Winner – Mark Funnell – £25 Amazon voucher

Congratulations to Mark Funnell for correctly predicting England’s first win of the tournament – 2-1 versus our neighbours Wales. He was selected at random as there were a few 2-1 entries. When Gareth Bale scored his second freekick of Euro 2016, England had been the better team. Joe Hart will be disappointed with his efforts as the ball didn’t find the corner of his goal. Nonetheless, at the break, Wales were full of confidence and 1 up. Roy Hodgson went all out attack after the interval and introduced Daniel Sturridge and Jamie Vardy – a double substitution that proved critical to England’s victory. Within 10 minutes of the restart, Vardy found himself in some space in the six yard box and smashed home. Despite looking offside, the ball had come off Wales captain Ashley Williams – an excellent spot from the officials. England continued to have most of the possession and left it until injury time to grab all 3 points. Some quick passing between Vardy and Sturridge resulted in the winning goal, a near post smash from Daniel Sturridge that completely fooled Wayne Hennessey. England now top Group B and play Slovakia on Monday 20 June.

3) England vs Slovakia – what will the final score be? Winner – Jamie King – £25 Amazon voucher

Congratulations to Jamie King for predicting England’s 0-0 bore draw with Slovakia. England dominated for 90 minutes but were unable to find the breakthrough. Vardy and Alli came close, but ultimately, Slovakia deserve credit for their determined defensive display. Both England (2nd) and Slovakia (3rd) have qualified from Group B, with England meeting Iceland on Monday (27 June) and Slovakia playing world champions Germany a day earlier on the Sunday (26 June).
